Sneak peek

Wind chimes echoed through the near-desolate shrine, the salty air flowing through the open window, blowing out the jasmine incense on the polished nightstand. Thunderclaps roared from the outside, and she couldn’t help but grin to herself as she shut her eyes. Abrupt weather changes, a drift in the squalls. The calm before a brewing storm; that was always Leilana Erovina’s ideal time to meditate as a prolific start to her drawn-out morning. Minsura’s grounds granted her peace and sitting as the first heir of the kingdom ensured her guarantee to a wholesome life. Isolated, magicless, a free reign to the plight of idealism and growth. The hymns of her people reverberated in passion and solitude. It was as though this closed-off world was shielded behind the clouds, never to touch the cruel workings on the ground below their pedestal. She heard little about the world furthest east of their country, a place called Adrylis, but she knew that their society was fueled by magic and the power of the Warlords. For generations beyond known time, essence and being was headed by the Warlords of old, who crafted all humankind and blessed them with the ability to conjure spells to breathe life into their own little world. Magic itself was a mysterious gift that few in Minsura were given; one of the chosen ones had been her own brother, Ennis. The oldest of the two, he should have been the one seated at the foot of the shrine, leading Minsura as the first heir to his growing land, but his recent growth in power knocked him down several pegs. Magic was forbidden. She was grateful for the shift due to the quiet change of pace and the chance to better her country with her own hands as its chosen princess, but she didn’t understand why it had to be in this manner. Ennis didn’t ask to suddenly develop a life-threatening illness, saved only by what essence resonated within him from birth. He never asked to be turned away by those he loved for something that he couldn’t control. A light rain pattered against the floor, and she decided to end her session for the day, getting up from her mat and closing the window shut. She rested her head on the windowsill, astonished blue eyes gazing up at the smoky clouds hastily filed in. As much as she loved Minsura and what the shrines had to offer, she couldn’t help but wonder what lied beyond the only land she had ever set foot on. She couldn’t wait for the rain to settle down for long—she was already late getting back home, and her parents would already have a mound of duties waiting for her. Pressing her tiny hands against the large doors holding her, she pushed them open and watched the rain pour down on the stone building above her. She took a seat on the stairs for a moment, tapping her foot along the ground, her right leg bouncing in an anxious matter. How long was it going to be before the rain slowed up?

The Solomon Sisters

Believe it or not, I am walking on air.

The editor has "Arms of Steel"

I refuse to fight anymore, it is done it is finished. Onward and upward.

"Feet of Granite" & "Fasten your Seatbelts" have been sidelined for way too long while I worked out the kinks in "Arms of Steel". From my perspective, the family lost motivation when the patriarch passed away. The Solomon family is no different, they lost their minds.

I find out I am not the first born. we have an older sister. I want, no I need to meet her, see her face to face and look her in the eye.

Therefore, we are heading to Italy.

In the meantime and in between time this is your chance to find out exactly what the Solomon sisters are made of while it is on sale

K. K. Harris

Collaboration in Motion
K.K. Harris- Let me start by saying, thank you to all of my fans who support my work consistently; I love you, and it has been an amazing journey!

Currently, I am working with a group of women writers on a project entitled Collaboration In Motion-Women Doing It For Themselves. Our first book is called,

"Through The Darkness-Stories Of Hope" of which I not only contributed my writing skills but graphic designs as well.

Through the Darkness ~ Stories of Hope

“Are you stalking me? How did you know where I lived?”
WADIFTS- With so many genres in your literary repertoire, such as urban fiction, Christian romance, paranormal romance, and crime (just to name a few) we are all curious to know, just what inspires you and what is your process?

K.K. Harris- My creative juices are driven by my imagination and the overall love to create. As far as my process, I would have to say that I am not the traditional outlier. For instance, I can spend a fair amount of time outlining/planning a story and then, just-like-that, change 85% of it before the end! ...So I guess that makes me a bit of a "pantser". To expound, my creative mind is always open to inspiration from different sources-music being one of them-  I love Jill Scott and she has this snippet of a song called "Crown Royal on Ice." One day while listening to it, I had a vision of a couples retreat centered around getting to love again. Some pretty interesting happy endings popped off in that tale... After all, If I could choose a mentor, it would be Romance author, Francis Ray.

WADIFTS- That sounds intriguing! Aside from that little brain-tease, what are you working on aside from "Through The Darkness-Stories Of Hope"?

K.K. Harris- A personal story that I named "Never Enough". It will be seriously deep and possibly a tear jerker- but I have put it off long enough. I also own a janitorial service, but my most important and satisfying occupation is that of mother and wife.

WADIFTS- Your life sounds very well rounded and conducive for great story-telling. Speaking of which, are there any stories that you enjoy reading over and over again?

K.K. Harris- Well, thank you. And I would have to say that my life is conducive for great story telling because one of the greatest compliments that I ever received was,
"You wrote my life story, I can relate to your characters."
...And selfishly, the stories that I enjoy reading over and over are a set of books entitled, "The Crew Series" which I began authoring in 2013. ...I know how they end, yet, I still cry when my main character cries. Lol... I'm a sap!

WADIFTS- If you were stranded on a deserted island, and you could only have five books with you, what would they be?

K.K. Harris- a. Through the Darkness ~ Stories of Hope, b. Brock's Redemption - EJ Brock, c. Stealing Innocence - Sylvia Hubbard, D. Love Drug - K. K. Harris, and e. The rest of the series to any book above...lol

WADIFTS- Have you ever had a particularly harsh critique? If so, how did you handle it?

K.K. Harris- I've had, who I considered to be, irrational reviewers who claim another book is better or there were too many errors... I simply responded with questions of my own, like "What were the terrible points? What could I have done different? Point out the errors...  But alas, no response.

WADIFTS- I commend you're patience and professionalism in those situations. Oft times readers don't realize what you pour into a story. Last but not least, Mrs. Harris, do you have any advice for other authors?

K.K. Harris- Grind hard, and when you think you have done enough, grind harder.

On a Black Horse

An Apocalyptic Paranormal Romance

When a Sun God makes a prophecy, it’s best to heed the warning.

Katherine stands on the edge of ruin. With Ragnarok in full swing and her friends off finding their own lives she can’t find a purpose in her existence. When Baldr, their missing Sun God, kidnaps Katherine and entreats her to care for his friend, a wounded hellhound, Katherine makes a selfish choice for the first time in her life.

Arwan never expected to meet a God, let alone fight a group of them to begin the Apocalypse. After the battle between Bianca, the Horseman of Conquest, and Hel, the Goddess of the Underworld, Arwan, escapes home to the Welsh coast intent to die on his own land.

With Hel dead, the Horseman believe they’ve stalled Ragnarok. But Baldr has a dream that convinces the Horseman to take out the remaining hounds loyal to Hel which includes the incapacitated Arwan.

Sorry Not Sorry! She's my MOM

I know, I know…your book is in a list that I promised to review.

Well first, I am only a little sorry. (NOT sorry). My mom released another best seller.

You haven’t read it, so you don’t know.

But I did, so I’m telling you. It is a best seller and if you have children you will agree. If you do not have children you will need to take her word for it.

There is JOY in MOTHERHOOD

She did raise us alone with my dad popping in and out of our lives. We were privileged despite our financial status. Because as she states in this book “spent many hours in prayer”. We were kept, kept like most wouldn’t fathom. When my sister asked me to read it I could only think…”what has my mom gone and done”. Through the entire book I was waiting on something embarrassing or some secret to jump out; but alas no. This book let me know the struggles my mom went through regarding her and her spirituality drawing her closer to God.

Now the surprise is…she enjoyed it. The three sisters who are so much alike and so different and so close that no one could break our bond between the three. My mom found JOY in being my mom.

Thank you for EVERYTHING mommy.

Thank you for letting me, be me So now I say to the world…

JESSie likes Liliah's style

Reading is my life,
while writing is my career.

Writing is getting in the way of my reading.

Foreshadowing

I love romance with suspense and maybe some exotic, erotica. This story was direct and cuts to the core of every high school girl who doesn’t want peer pressure to eliminate her from the “IN CROWD”. Yet we all have those hidden what if, I wish, if only; thoughts that we just don’t share.
Sophie dreams to share these thoughts with someone, better yet live them. But what will they (her friends) think of her if she voices her inner most desires?  “My girlfriends would whisper in disapproval ‘Oh my gosh, Sophie you’re such a slut!’”

By the time Sophie gets into her dreams, desires or what we may say EXACTLY what we all wanted. The story is over. It is such a quick read, such a roller coaster, you will get back in line to ride again.

Lilah leaves your imagination wanting more. Come prepared for results, but she has told me unequivocally, “THERE WILL BE NO SEQUAL”. So, to Lilah I say “boo”…we want more of Sophie.

Stoker Ace

I love romance with suspense and maybe some exotic, erotica. However I am a straight laced, good ole’ fashion gurl.  If there are three people in the room (more less the bed), I am none of them. However, this author had me at “The man loosened his tie as if he was physically suffocating with the drama. He ran his hand through his dark hair and attempted to cut into the girl’s tirade, but she didn’t give him that chance, interrupting him with a sharp gesture of her hand.”

Evan is the manly-man all-powerful and strong. However, this tiny woman; Annabelle flicked her wrist and he became silent. Now you must ask is this by will, by training or by design. I won’t tell. I love the interaction and exchange between the two night owls. You will enjoy the third parties strategic observations and interactions. No spoilers here, you must figure out who wins, loses and who is really in charge during this short novella.

So, we ask ourselves what is the real hook in this book. Is Annabelle to strong and Evan too weak? Are they fit to continue as they are or is there change on the horizon? Simply ask yourself who’s in charge in your life.

Lilah leaves your imagination wanting more. Come prepared for results.
