The Solomon Sisters

Believe it or not, I am walking on air.

The editor has "Arms of Steel"

I refuse to fight anymore, it is done it is finished. Onward and upward.

"Feet of Granite" & "Fasten your Seatbelts" have been sidelined for way too long while I worked out the kinks in "Arms of Steel". From my perspective, the family lost motivation when the patriarch passed away. The Solomon family is no different, they lost their minds.

I find out I am not the first born. we have an older sister. I want, no I need to meet her, see her face to face and look her in the eye.

Therefore, we are heading to Italy.

In the meantime and in between time this is your chance to find out exactly what the Solomon sisters are made of while it is on sale

A. McCarty

Collaboration in Motion

"I could tell it was fake because it never once reached her eyes"

Inspirational writer, Amber McCarty joined “Collaboration In Motion-Women Doing It For Themselves” as a contributor to our newest release, “Through The Darkness-Stories Of Hope”.

Through the Darkness ~ Stories of Hope

Her advice to fellow authors is, “Don't focus on sales and reviews; It's not about the sales and reviews (although “they say” those make the author). Rather, it's the person behind the story and what you love to do that makes for a great book.”

Mrs. McCarty who currently holds down two jobs in the health-care field began writing therapeutically to calm bouts of depression, and shares that it has been a source of creative escape that she has grown to love.

WADIFTS- Given your love for inspirational writing, what inspires you to write and what is another genre that you might be interested in trying?

Amber McCarty- Well, I get what you might call a writing “itch”! And, when I get that “itch” I just have to write, no matter what the genre. I would, however, like to try non-fiction because generally that is a teaching genre that I can learn something new from. So writing in that genre would give me the opportunity to teach someone something new.

WADIFTS- If you could choose an author to be your mentor, who would it be?

Amber McCarty- Living or dead; I’d have to say, I would choose Laura Ingles Wilder. Her writing was always something that intrigued me.

WADIFTS- quid pro quo- If you were stranded on a deserted island, and you could only have five books with you, what would they be?

a.       Through the Darkness ~ Stories of Hope

b.       Over the Rainbow by Friends of Dorothy

c.        Out of the Darkness by Angela Fattig

d.       Any of Stephen King's books

e.       Two Little Girls in Blue by Mary Higgins Clark

A. McCarty

WADIFTS- What are you working on now?

Amber McCarty- I'm working on completing my first novel entitled, “One Christmas Night” and a few other short stories. As of yet, I haven’t gotten any ideas to write outside my comfort zone-but maybe soon. Smiling…

WADIFTS- What book or series do you enjoy reading over and over again?

Amber McCarty-  I will say, the romantic-suspense novel, Shattered Dreams by Angela Fatig is my go-to read. But, there are many books on my “to-read” list such as, Becoming a Legend by Sarah Robinson, Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult, When There's Smoke by Jodi Picoult, and The Melody Lingers by Mary Higgins Clark.

WADIFTS- What is the best compliment you've ever received as an author and the worst critique.

Amber McCarty- The best compliment so far has been, "Keep writing because I am in love with your writing". -That was said by a friend of mine. As far as harsh critiques, I haven't had any yet, but If and when it does happen I will use it to improve.

WADIFTS- quid pro quo Are you a pantser or outliner?

Amber McCarty- I'm a bit of both. It just depends on the story and if I can get it to flow right away or not.

WADIFTS- Last but not least, do you have anything specific you'd like to say to your readers?

Amber McCarty- Quite humbly- “I’m not sure at this point what to say to my readers except, thank you for taking the time to read my work.

Just another day in the Neighborhood

Catching up on my obligations.

I was forbidden to write about this book way back when. I am cleaning up and straightening out my closet (i.e. computer) as we prepare to move. I am finally down to ten books and will slowly start to add more. I've returned four books in the last seven months for various reasons.

Please, please. please if you are an author, keep writing and do NOT let someone talk you out of your original ideas. Write what you know, what you feel and do not let someone edit you out of what your voices in your head tell you to write.

Now this lady, imagination and all has my attention. I hope one day to just hangout. You want to read this book, and as I have the second one but haven't "got'aroun'2'it yet. But soon gurlfriend.

Questions are answered about the underworld of BDSM that proved how wrong I was about so much. Who is really in control when you play these games?

“Scenes”

My vocabulary expanded with information that hooked me in reading this novel. I enjoy reading I don’t always know how to say what I am reading. So I will say this “I am buying the next book”.

Thank you for educating me. Thank you for giving me ideas for our next vacation.

Are we alike? You will be surprised...

READ THIS BOOK

I am not politically correct by any means. The one little filter that tells your mouth how to sweeten a remark is missing. It I am often quiet “at the oddest” times. Only because my mom told me to keep my mouth shut if you do not have anything nice to say.

Well Ruby is just the opposite, she smiles and 'day dreams' the things that I would verbalize (but should not say). Until one day…

I will tell you there is a happy conclusion to this book. I hope there is a sequel in the short story because I want to know exactly what happens next. I will tell you Monica Handy has a talent for words. I will tell you her imagination (both of them) is limitless. But I wont tell you the plot or give away any spoilers. Get your own copy. I will not even lend you mine because #Indiewriters must eat also.

Buy this book it is a quick pick you up with a twist and turn and a bump you up. But don’t get me twisted. You will NOT roll over Ruby she has pizzazz. You won’t soon forget her. (Ruby or Monica)

Join me the end of the month where I will takeover an event for 1 hour you will enjoy. I hope to see you there. I mean what else are you doing?

I was Forbidden to write about Fragile by Drew Sera… don’t ask me why.

This is my newest edition to The Solomon Sisters trilogy book cover. You want to read it?

I would too. As soon as it is released, I will let you know until then. Here are other books I have read and enjoyed. I hope you will enjoy them also.

Ask Mzz Dunning (www.Mzzdunningreads.com) about Fragile by Drew Sera. I was forbidden to write one word about that book. But apparently on July 6th 2016 I can say whatever I want to say. If you haven’t read it you may want to before then. I could add a spoiler or two to mess with your head. Until then let me tell you about a man and his ship.

The Assiduous Quest of Tobias Hopkins: The Complete Novel

I love romance! Well this romance is about a man who loves his history, his ship, the sea and his men. My oh my Mr. James Faro I can only give you 5 stars, and would gladly go take a star away from many stories to tell you how I was self-absorbed. It was tough not to take my meds (as I had bronchitis with a herniated disc). This was a challenge since coughing was not allowed and the cough medication made me very sleepy. I went to sleep twice holding my tablet because I wanted to know who did what to whom and when…nope I am not a spoiler kinda gurl. I will tell you that the flow keeps you in the moment without repeating itself as many authors feel the need to do. When you are mesmerized, you don’t need to fluff words to make a novella into a novel. You simply put excellent dialogue into a setting that makes you comfortable and you do this after you are well informed and your subject matter is researched to the ‘th degree. All of these things come into play with a carefully worded plot and unpredictable ending. Some of the characters make you a bit edgy, but the right ones come around making you love them.

Well done and thank you for the opportunity to read such an excellent storyline. It’s truly has been a while since I read (and enjoyed) a squash buckler. I would do it all again. My question is always “is there a sequel?” “If so, when. No really, when?”
Thank you for dropping by, see you next week.

June 16, 2016 Happy Father’s Day ~ Thank you for your absence, no seriously!

This is the first blog of my real-time author career.

I welcome any and all criticisms as this blog is monitored and negative opinions will not see the light of day. Yes, I am a bit arrogant but I am so much fun. I decided to jump into the Blog/Vlog community for the sheer pleasure of saying what I wanted to say when I wanted to say it without the discretion of my editor, syntax or plot structure. So far, so good ~ did I mention this is day one…

I am truly the oldest of three girls not necessarily depicted in the series The Solomon Sisters (http://amzn.to/1NlVIrB). My father at his closest during my childhood lived approximately 100 miles away. In our young minds, that was a two-hour Greyhound bus ride, a lunch, zoo or museum trip and nap or a five gas station lotto stop and start on the local US41. In retrospect, most of these times were wonderful. There were the days and nights that we ladies figured out things for ourselves when it came to housekeeping, honey-do’s and the like.

Earlier this year I found myself so grateful for the inventions improv’s and SNAFU’s we endured as children. After a bout of bronchitis linked with the discovery of a herniated disc, I ran out of meds because of poor planning. My husband working some of the most ungodly hours needed his rest and I decided to endure my pain during the night. The next day I was a bear until he arrived from work with my new prescription. I take half a dose and struggle not to cough and sleep until my bedtime. As we snuggle down and my hubby drifts off into his snoring frenzy, my brain kicks awake like nobody’s business. The pain multiplies to the en‘th degree and I am miserable. Finally, my bowel decides it too is restless.

I easy out of his arms, grab my play tablet to catch up on some Facebook crime game and head to the bathroom. After a few moments, I remember I’ve been on opiates for about a week and that smell is coming from inside of me. I thank God for indoor plumbing and flush. The sounds are not familiar so I peek down to see a mutiny. The bathroom at the other side of the house is too far for me to maneuver at my stage in THIS process. So I do what I was taught from a child I pray, not just whisper a prayer I call out loud a prayer of saving grace and embarrassment (“Oh Lord Have Mercy”) {I should mention we are newlyweds, less than two years}. As always God hears and answers, this time He said ‘yes’; and the water rescinded just enough for me to allow me complete my deposit.

Jumping directly into the shower more to wash my memory than anything else, clean and refresh only to step out to… “WAIT, WHAT?” Everything looks exactly as it did when I got in the shower, what the heck!!!!

Of course, you weeping willowy flower type llllaaaaddddiiiieeeesssss, (in my Jerry Lewis voice) would go wake up your poor defenseless husbands.  Then shame him into forgetting he ever saw the sight of your poo increasing like the blob who ate Mt Everest after dark (Ms. DJ, my editor - I apologize for this entire paragraph, probably the whole blog is screaming for your assistance.) (Mr. A ‘T’ F don’t you even read it.)

For those of you meeting me for the first time think of me in 50’s, 60’s and 70’s R&B Angry Black Woman songs… starting with “R. E. S. P. E. C. T.” Throw in some “I am WOMAN”, and red white and blue uniform with a truth lasso and you have the outer core shell that I allow people to see.

So back to the bathroom cabinets, sink cabinets garage shelves, there is NOTHING that will “commercially” clear this commode. Fine, fine I will wake the hubby! Dangitall. Wait, “whose child are you?” I can hear my Mam’ma asking me as I walk out the house at 13 ½ on my group date with friends. I head to the kitchen, grab all the baking soda in the refrige’. I poor it in and see a slow change from brown to light beige and a few foaming bubbles. I smile to myself, “I got this”.  Padding back to the kitchen I remember that vinegar will assist in this process. Taking my worshiped Apple cider vinegar, which I purchase by the gallon and I pad quietly back into the bathroom to complete my unscheduled science project. Smiling with confidence at the 6/8th filled bowl I pour about a cup without measuring.  Then watch as the white rapid waves of foaming bubbles and sizzling gulps jerk heaving and spiting. I again verbally; so I knew I really was talking I prayed… “OH LORD”. The level literally rose to 99.5% and halted.

“Whew.” I need another shower.  In I go. Did I mention somewhere in here I am running on 2 hours of sleep in the last 29 hours and my neck feels like I have been “Kung Fu Figntin”.  This time when I leave the shower, I am proud to be my ma’ma’s child. And I silently thank Daddy too for being around but not so much and not so close. They did not raise a shrinking violet with no brains or savvy. They raised a full-grown woman with spunk and fire.

Thank you for joining my blog, my fan base, my mailing list or any other way you are connected to my life; you have entered JESSie’s office where JESSie writes at JESSie’s desk.

Children, wimps, weak minded and easily bruised mindless bodies; those quickly offended and souls that need coddling will not be comfortable anywhere close to me.  I will however smile and put on The Plastic Face.
